The original V-Strom, Suzuki's first sport-enduro tourer, arrived in 2002. Its 996 cc liquid-cooled 90-degree V-twin was derived from the TL1000 sportbike engine and sits in an aluminium twin-spar frame with long-travel suspension. Fuel injection with dual throttle valves and an upright, comfortable riding position set it apart from the sportbikes of the time.
