The 650XT was the off-road-styled version of the V-Strom 650 that sat beside the standard bike. It had wire-spoked aluminium wheels, which the source says help low-speed absorption, more adventure styling and a wide range of touring accessories. It kept the same 645 cc V-twin and lightweight twin-spar frame as the standard model, and the new beak-style front was shared with the larger 1000.
