A works-style single-cylinder rally bike built for the 1988 Paris-Dakar, using a new 800 cc DR-Z engine that had only been raced once before, at the Rally des Pharaons in Egypt. Suzuki handled the engineering while Gaston Rahier Racing organised the team and its sponsors. Titanium fasteners and exhaust, plus carbon fibre and Kevlar panels, kept the dry weight down, and the fuel tank was enlarged from 52 to 64 litres during the campaign.
