The 1984 debut of Suzuki's enlarged 1135 cc air-cooled four, a bored-out evolution of the GS1100 engine with four 36 mm carbs and a new chassis with a Kayaba air-assisted fork and a single rear shock. Aimed squarely at the 1984 superbike war, it offered very strong acceleration and a stable chassis, helped by a 16 inch front wheel and anti-dive.
