A Japan-market retro superbike launched in 2001 as a modern take on the 1980s GSX-R1100, using the air/oil-cooled 1157 cc four from the GSF1200 Bandit. It had a simple look with conventional gauges, and was reworked for 2002 with a new tank and colours.
