The GSX400F name returned in 1988 (code GK74A) as a Japan-market budget sports-tourer, combining the GSX-R400R engine with the frame and fairing of the GSX600F. It was large and comfortable, like a 600, but underpowered for its size and never became popular. It was sold for the 1988 and 1989 model years.
