The restyled GSX600F, sold as the Katana 600 in some markets from 1998, kept the air/oil-cooled 599 cc four but was retuned for stronger low and mid-range pull and fitted with a stainless exhaust. It was positioned as an affordable sports-tourer with a big 20-litre tank, a roomy dual seat and good wind protection, with modest brakes and low pegs.
