The 2002 GSX-R1000 (K2) was a light update of the original: new paint schemes, bolt-on bungee hooks, a polished stainless exhaust and minor engine-management and cosmetic changes. Its 988 cc four and aluminium twin-spar chassis were unchanged, and it won a magazine superbike group test against the main rivals.
