The 2001 GSX-R600 (K1) was a ground-up redesign with a lighter, more compact frame, a new 599 cc engine with forged pistons, and fuel injection using Suzuki's Dual Throttle Valve system. It looked almost identical to the GSX-R750 and was well received for its front-end feel, braking and midrange.
