The 1997 GSX-R 600 SRAD was a fresh design with Suzuki Ram Air Direct, a new aluminium twin-spar frame and a much lighter 174 kg dry weight. Still carburetted, it was a sharp, track-minded machine with a cramped riding position, and group tests of the day found it strong on circuit but short on midrange.
