The RMX 450Z was Suzuki's enduro version of its RM-Z450 motocrosser, keeping the 449 cc liquid-cooled four-stroke but retuning it for trail use with a modified inlet tract, new cam profiles and wider-ratio gearing. It added electric start, a lighting kit, a side stand, digital instruments, and an 18-inch rear wheel, with softer Showa suspension settings. It was aimed at riders wanting a race-bred bike that could be used on long off-road rides and in enduro events.
