The SP 500 was a big air/oil-cooled four-valve single aimed at the dual-purpose and trail market in the early 1980s. Its large-bore, long-stroke 498 cc engine gave strong low-down torque, and it had adjustable suspension with a 21-inch front wheel. It was tall and fairly heavy for the class, with drum brakes at both ends and kick starting only.
