The original half-faired SV650S arrived in 1999 alongside the naked SV650, built around a new compact V-twin related to the TL1000 design and a light aluminium trellis frame. Lower bars, a twin-lamp fairing and taller gearing made it better suited to longer rides than the naked bike. It was a cheap, approachable middleweight sports-tourer.
