The 2005 Speed Triple grew to 1050 cc with a longer-stroke crank, a redesigned head and Keihin fuel injection, giving smoother and stronger response than the 955. It also gained new inverted forks, a shorter swingarm, five-spoke wheels, a docked tail and new bodywork. Reviewers considered it good value against rivals such as the Yamaha FZ1 and Ducati Monster 1000S.
