The 1997 Speed Triple (T509) moved the 885 cc triple to fuel injection, raising power to about 108 hp, and gained the aluminium frame and single-sided swingarm from the Daytona, plus a six-speed gearbox and upside-down forks. Testers liked its engine character and brakes but found the suspension firm and the power peaky.
