The Daytona was the unit-construction 500 twin named after Buddy Elmore's 1966 Daytona 200 win on a Tiger 100-based machine. Smoother than the pre-unit Tiger 100, it used twin carburettors and a sporting cam, and late bikes gained a disc brake before the Meriden factory closed.
