The 1951 refresh replaced the exposed gear linkage with control cables and added hydraulic dampers front and rear, plus a longer footboard for a passenger and a larger rear brake. A rectangular tail lamp, a redesigned saddle hiding the suspension, and a fuel tap with reserve were also new. It became famous through the film Roman Holiday.
