The 1985 FJ1100 carried on as Yamaha's flagship four-stroke with the same air/oil-cooled 1097 cc engine and lateral-frame chassis as the first year. It was praised for strong, smooth power, easy low-rev manners and strong brakes behind a wind-tunnel-shaped fairing. The bigger FJ1200 replaced it in 1986.
