A US-market version of the FZ750 Genesis with the stroke shortened to 48 mm, giving 697 cc so it fell under the 700 cc threshold of the American motorcycle import tariff. It kept the five-valve-per-cylinder engine, aluminium frame and 16-inch front wheel of the FZ750.
