The FZR250R is the Exup-equipped revision of the quarter-litre four, with twin front discs and a wider rear tyre in place of the earlier single-disc setup. It keeps the 45 hp, 14,500 rpm engine but gains a larger tank. Reviewers called its engine stronger and more flexible than its main rival, though the gearbox felt sloppy.
