For 1986 the RD 350F was described by testers as an evolution of the RZ350 rather than a radical new bike. Changes noted included a revised combustion chamber, altered porting and expansion chambers, thicker pistons, lighter wheels and discs, a smaller 17-litre tank and a reshaped seat.
