The RT-1 was Yamaha's big single-cylinder trail and enduro machine, effectively a bigger-engined sibling of the 250 DT-1. Period testers rated it for road use, scrambles, trials and long-distance enduros, praising its handling off-road and braking but criticising the small tank and short front mudguard.
