The TX650 was Yamaha's big air-cooled SOHC parallel twin of the early 1970s, sold in other years as the XS650. The 1973-74 model was reworked with a new frame, longer swingarm and stiffer suspension in an effort to cure the earlier bike's vague handling. Testers praised the broad powerband, gearbox and brakes, but noted a top-heavy feel and some vibration.
