The TX750 launched in mid-1972 as a larger, smoother companion to the XS650, using an air-cooled SOHC parallel twin with Yamaha's Omni-Phase counter-rotating balancers. It was pitched as a refined tourer with electric start, but early engines suffered oil-system failures and were recalled for an oil cooler. 1972 was the first and biggest production year.
