The TZR250 appeared in 1986 as a road-going replica of the TZ250 racer, with a liquid-cooled parallel twin, YPVS power valves and an aluminium frame. Export 2MA versions made about 50 hp, while the Japanese 1KT was restricted. Group tests praised its stable handling and easy manners but criticised its stock tyres.
