The WR250F is Yamaha's four-stroke, five-valve enduro bike, derived from the YZ250F motocross machine but tuned for smoother, more controllable power. It adds an electric starter with a kick backup, dry-sump lubrication and a fully adjustable suspension package for off-road competition. This period carries the early-generation engine and chassis largely unchanged.
