The air-cooled, two-valve little brother of the liquid-cooled XJ700X Maxim, built in the mid-1980s as a shaft-drive naked four with a double-cradle frame. It shares the 697 cc size that suited US tariff rules, but with milder tuning and lower compression than the five-valve bike. It had an air-assisted fork, twin front discs and a rear drum.
