The XJR1200 was Yamaha's big retro roadster, built around a detuned version of the air-cooled 16-valve FJ engine with extra low-rev pull. It combined round-tube steel frame styling, twin rear shocks and chrome and polished-fin details. It was launched in the mid-1990s as a rival to the Kawasaki Zephyr 1100 and Honda CB1000.
