The XT 600 replaced the 550 with a 595 cc air/oil-cooled four-valve single, dry-sump lubricated and with a front disc brake. A street/trail bike with YZ-inspired styling, it was smooth and strong in the midrange but geared tall for tight trails. It competed with Honda's XL600R and Kawasaki's KLR600. The 1986-87 listing is the continued kick-start single.
