The 2006 R6 was a complete redesign with Formula 1-inspired bodywork, a revvier engine with titanium valves and a 16,000 rpm redline, and Yamaha's YCC-T ride-by-wire throttle. A slipper clutch, a lighter Deltabox frame, radial front brakes and a titanium exhaust also arrived with this generation.
