The YZF600R replaced the FZR600R, reusing its Deltabox frame and four-cylinder engine with more power and a ram-air nose. It was launched as a sportbike but proved better as a capable sport-tourer, with soft suspension and excellent four-piston front brakes. Privateers raced it in 600 Supersport.
