The YZF750R, launched in 1993, replaced the ageing FZ750 and was derived from the limited-edition OW01 homologation special. It used a 20-valve engine with the EXUP exhaust valve for strong midrange, and its six-piston front brakes were said to be a production first. It earned a reputation for quick, nimble handling and won the 1994 Bol d'Or.
