The SP was the limited-run, race-oriented sibling of the standard YZF750R, built as a homologation special for World Superbike. It swapped in flat-slide Keihin carburettors, fully adjustable suspension with an Ohlins rear shock, a single seat and a closer-ratio gearbox. It handles more sharply than the R but is more demanding, with a flat spot in carburation at low revs and a track-first character.
